Switching F2-7 visa to an F5 one

To change from an F2-7 visa to an F5 visa, you must have proof of employment with a Korean-based company. Being employed by a Korean branch of a home country company also qualifies. This is an important requirement. If it is difficult to find employment with a Korean company, you can register as a business owner and operate your own business, but this depends on the eligibility conditions at the time of acquiring the F2-7 visa. If there are disqualifying factors when registering your business, you need to obtain a "permission for non-qualifying activities". While maintaining employment with your home country employer, there are two ways to earn income in Korea: 1) finding employment with a Korean company or 2) registering as a business owner and operating a business.

It is not a problem for your home country employer to deposit your income into your home country or Korean bank account. If you file a comprehensive income tax return every May, you should have no problem providing proof of income when applying for the F5 visa.
